Hokkaidou Trip ’07

Part 2

August 4th (Sat.)

I got up at 5 o'clock in the morning and it was cloudy. We were worried about the typhoon coming to Hokkaido. The weather broadcast said that it would be cloudy in the morning and rainy in the afternoon. I ate breakfast at 7 o'clock and then we left here at 7:30 and the Sukoton inn's owner took us to the Hamanaka which is the entrance of 4 hours trail course.

We began to walk from here and went to the Sukai cape. It took 50 minutes walk. We got very beautiful scenery from the view point of Sukai cape and took a lot of pictures. As there was a restaurant, we ordered a cup of kelp soap and tasted good and made us warm. We began to walk 4 hours trail and walked among the grass field and saw flowers and the sea scenery. The trail was up and down. We went to Teppu which is a very small town of the fisher mans.

We climbed the hill along the sea and had a good landscape. But it was very strong wind and began to rain and the mountain was covered with fogs. It seemed that the typhoon was coming. Near the top of Gorota mountain, the wind was stronger and stronger and we could not see anything and felt very danger. We met nobody during our trail. Finally we decided to go back to the same trail before we reached the top of the Mt.Gorota.

We returned Teppu town and we tried to find some restaurant, but there was neither restaurant nor shop. We only found the public rest room at the entrance of the town. We tried to make a phone call by mobile phone, but the Softbank mobile phone was out of connection. We could not make a phone call to a taxi company.

There was a man passing by and we asked him to rent us Au mobile phone which could connect. We had a lot of troubles that Softbank mobile phone could not connect in many places, not only rural area, but also our company in Chiba. I made a phone call to a taxi company. It took 20 minutes waiting to come and we returned to Sukoton cape and went back much earlier than usual.

The time was just after 12 o'clock. We felt tired, so we took a nap in our room. In the afternoon, it was raining all the time and still strong wind. We could not walk outside, because it was strong wind outside. We decided to relax in our room.

We had a good dinner and enjoyed eating various sea foods which were very fresh. We went to bed at 8 pm.
