April 20th (Sun.)
I awaked early morning and studied for three hours.
I watched a TV program “Kaizai Rashinban” which literally means Economic
Direction in the future. We usually heard a company’s president talk. Today’s topics were solar battery technologies and the president introduced his company Ulvac recent technology which can reduce Silicon material.
My wife and I went to a Japanese restaurant “Rakusui” located near the Kazusa Academia Park. We can only access there by a car. There were two families except us. After we ordered lunch, it took 35 minutes to have lunch. It took too much time. Maybe other families waited much more time than us.
April 19th (Sat.)
I got very tired, so I could not get up early in the morning. I wrote a business report in the morning and then went to an English school.
The dogwood was in full bloom in my yard.
April 18th (Fri.)
I got up at 4:30 a.m. and wrote a report at a hotel near Okayama Station and then I flew from Okayama Airport to Haneda Airport in the morning. The weather in Haneda Airport was very bad, so the departure was delayed for 40 minutes. As the FPD exhibition was held in Tokyo Big Site, I directly went there. There were many companies which displayed many LCD for TV and mobile phones, and electric goods and LCD parts. Sony displayed ultra thin TV whose thickness was 3 mm thickness 11 inches TV made of Organic Electro-Luminescence. It also displayed 2mm LCD for a mobile phone. I contacted with many companies related to the film technology. I was very interested in the newly developed technology.
I kept on standing and walking for 5 hours at the exhibition site.
After visiting the FPD exhibition, I met my friend and then went to a
restaurant with him.
April 17th (Thurs.)
I got up at 5 o’clock and I left at 6 o’clock. I flew to Okayama and rent a car at Okayama Airport and drove to a company.
I kept on standing all the time except 30 minute for lunch. The weather was bad and it was raining all day. After my business trip, I went to a Japanese pub and ate and drank with our company’s people until late night.
April 13th (Sun.)
Recently the price of LCD TV has been more reasonable and I have been thinking of buying it. I saw the advertisement of Japanet Takata which gave us a good price. I went to an electric shop nearby in order to compare prices. I realized that the net shop price was very reasonable. I am wondering why LCD TV price has been going down so quickly. The structure of LCD is very complicated and I thought the price should have been high. But recently there is small difference between CRT type and LCD one for their cost.
April 12th (Sat.)
I had English lesson and I heard that he had a baby and he looked very
happy. I also felt very happy to hear it. His baby’s weight was 3.3 kg
which was a little heavier than usual. He had the first baby who was named middle name like English person.
April 11th (Fri.)
I began to have evening English lesson with a person who belongs to our research center once a week. His TOIEC score is 820 and we had a nice talk for one hour. This was the first time that we had it. He wanted to have it in the future, so we decided the next date. I took the Daily Yomiuri which I subscribe every day and gave it to him. He also showed an English Journal which he sometimes bought.
As my wife went to Tokyo and returned to our home after 6:30 o’clock, we went to Japanese restaurant near my house. We enjoyed eating and drinking and had a good time. My wife looked really happy.
April 10th (Thurs.)
I went to Tokyo Institute of Technology and had a discussion of our research subject. We agreed to continue on our research PJ in the coming year. It took less than one and half hours from my house and university since I used the Aqualine bus service between Sodegaura and Shinagawa.
April 9th (Wed.)
My friend who works for the same company came to our research center and discussed his research subjects. We could have a very fruitful discussion and he was very glad to have it. After discussion, we went to a Japanese style pub and talked with drinking and eating until late night. The technical discussion gave me a good time.
April 6th (Sun.)
It was fine day and got up early in the morning. After I worked something at home, I went to the Sodegaura Park nearby. The cherry blossoms were in full bloom and it was very beautiful. There were few people walking in the park. The lake in the park was veiled in the morning haze and was fantastic. I took about one hundred pictures of cherry blossoms and lake. Rape blossoms were bright yellow and cherry blossoms were white. I was walking in the park for one hour and enjoyed watching beautiful scenery.

During lunch time my wife and I went to a park near my house near the dam and there were many people who had lunch under the cherry blossoms. Japanese people including me like cherry blossoms very much.
April 4th (Fri.)
My friend became 60 years old and he decided to retire, so I had a
retirement party. We can choose whether we continue on working or not when we are 60 years old. But our salary is reduced after the retirement age. But recently I think people who are just 60 years old still look young. There were seven people joined and we enjoyed talking among us.
April 2nd (Wed.)
My desk and chair were moved from one building to other one and I was busy preparing for move. After the work, our member twelve people who belong to our laboratory of Kanazawa University had a party for two researchers who got PhD degree. They showed their union cards to us. They seemed to be happy and I had a good time to see them.
April 1st (Tue.)
Today it was the first day of the annual year 2008 and the initiation
ceremony was held. There were two new employees who I asked to work for our company. I was surprised that it had already passed since I had returned to our company. The time flew.
I went to the central research laboratory to have meetings with researchers and discussed few matters to be solved in the morning. It is famous for cherry blossoms in this area. Some of the people who were not our company’s employees visited and watched cherry blossoms along the pond. In the afternoon I had another meeting with new members who belong to new group setting up this day. After the meeting, we had a party with all members.
